Lakewood residents are donating food, money and other goods to the family of Dennis Walbauer, whose spinal cord was crushed in a motorcycle accident Nov. 30 on Oregon Expressway in Palo Alto.
The accident occurred as he drove home from work. Walbauer, who may be paralyzed, will be hospitalized until at least New Year's at Stanford Medical Center.
Residents have donated about $300 so far and are distributing fliers in the neighborhood to get more help for the family.
Bogart's, where Walbauer played tournament darts, collected $300 from its customers and will hold a benefit dinner on Friday at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the $5 meal will go to the Walbauer family.
