Deadline passes for vote recount

Sunnyvale City Council candidate Michael Szymanski has let the deadline pass to file papers asking the city for a recount in the most recent election.

Szymanski lost the election to new councilwoman Julia Miller by 700 votes. The candidate notified the city of his intent to file for a recount but let the Nov. 25 deadline pass, according to the city clerk's office.

Szymanski was not available for comment.

FUHSD seeks principal input

The Fremont Union High School District is seeking community input on selecting a new principal for Homestead High School.

The school board will meet Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in room C5 at Homestead High School to gather input from the community on characteristics desired in a new principal.

OHPIE continues buy-a-brick sale

The Orchard Heritage Park Interpretive Exhibit (OHPIE) is currently taking donations to make its building a reality. The exhibit still needs $200,000 to meet its $300,000 goal before ground can be broken for the new center.

Contributors can become a permanent part of the exhibit by purchasing engraved bricks for $150 for the a walkway from the parking lot to the center.
