Public Safety

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Vandalism--Jan. 5, 8:44 p.m., 1000 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Someone slashed the victim's tires at a gas station after the two had a physical confrontation.

Embezzlement--Jan. 5, 2:23 p.m., 200 block of W. Iowa Avenue. An employee was detained on suspicion of gift card embezzlement.

Burglary--Jan. 5, 12:06 p.m., 1000 block of Stewart Drive. Someone broke into a storage unit and stole a motorized bike.

Auto burglary--Jan. 5, 9:24 a.m., 1100 block of Kifer Road. Someone burglarized a 1995 Honda Civic.

Found property--Jan. 5, 9:19 a.m., 200 block of N. Sunnyvale Avenue. Someone found a syringe in a park.

Commercial burglary--Jan. 4, 8:42 p.m., 500 block of E. Weddell Drive. Someone removed boards from the side of an office in a construction area and stole a laptop.

Auto theft--Jan. 4, 5:53 p.m., 300 block of N. Wolfe Road. A 2007 Honda CBR 1000 was stolen.

Auto theft--Jan. 4, 7:27 a.m., 500 block of Trumbull Court. Someone stole a 1982 Mazda.

Theft--Jan. 3, 4:54 p.m., 100 block of E. El Camino Real. Someone took some shoes from a sporting goods store and fled.

Identity theft--Jan. 3, 7:31 p.m., 400 block of Carneros Avenue. Someone reported an unauthorized use of a debit card.

Auto burglary--Jan. 3, 2:23 p.m., Capella Way at S. Frances Street. Someone broke into a Pontiac Firebird and stole a GPS device.

Vandalism--Jan. 3, 8:44 a.m., 800 block of Lakechime Drive. Someone broke limbs off two trees to burn in a firepit.

Auto theft--Jan. 3, 8:46 a.m., 1100 block of Old Mountain View-Alviso Road. Someone stole a trailer from behind a business overnight.

Residential burglary--Jan. 2, 8:46 p.m., 800 block of Birch Avenue. Someone burglarized a house.

Auto theft--Jan. 2, 2:35 p.m., 1000 block of W. El Camino Real. A 2005 Chrysler Sebring was reported stolen from a rental agency after it had not been seen for three weeks.

Commercial burglary--Jan. 2, 1:10 p.m., 1600 block of Tenaka Place. Someone broke into an apartment complex office.

Theft--Jan. 2, 12:05 p.m., 1300 block of Socorro Avenue. Someone swapped a car's license plate for another.

Fake bills--Jan. 1, 4:13 p.m., 200 block of W. Iowa Avenue. Someone used five fake $20 bills.

Under the influence--Dec. 30, 5:25 p.m., 600 block of E. Weddell Drive at Fair Oaks Avenue. A 55-year-old Palo Alto crossing guard was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence and possessing a hypodermic needle or syringe.

Residential burglary--Dec. 30, 1:08 p.m., 1200 block of Torrance Avenue. Someone posing as a PG&E employee reportedly burglarized a house.

Vandalism--Dec. 30, 11:39 a.m., 1000 block of E. Evelyn Terrace. Someone damaged a car and spread dog feces all over it.

Battery--Dec. 24, 7:47 p.m., 1000 block of Bradford Drive. A Sunnyvale man, 41, was arrested on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury. The victim may have had a broken arm.

Embezzlement--Dec. 24, 3:55 p.m., 1000 block of E. Arques Avenue. A 21-year-old computer salesman from Mountain View was arrested on suspicion of embezzling more than $400 at an electronics store.

 

Theft, vandalism--Dec. 24, 9:03 a.m., 1000 block of Morse Avenue. Some stole a golf cart and damaged another at an apartment complex.

Fight--Dec. 24, 1:28 a.m., 1200 block of Lakeside Drive. Three to four people were in a fight with another man. A 19-year-old Mountain View man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer.

Commercial burglary--Dec. 23, 4:50 p.m., 1200 block of W. El Camino Real. Someone cut a lock off a rear door, tried to steal items and fled over a back fence.

False citizenship--Dec. 23, 12:05 p.m., 1200 block of S. Mary Avenue. A Hollister construction worker, 25, was arrested on suspicion of using false citizenship documents and driving while unlicensed.
