Town Center Update

The Sun periodically provides updates on the $400 million Town Center redevelopment project headed by San Hill Property Co.

* Concrete is being placed for the third level of the new parking garages along Mathilda Avenue.

* Reinforcing steel is being placed for the ceilings of retail buildings along Washington, Taaffe and McKinley avenues. These slabs will be the floor for future residential structures above the retail shops.

* Soil gas extraction equipment is now fully operational.

* Preparations are under way for major construction along Washington Avenue, east of Mathilda Avenue.

* The current phase of demolition of Town and Country is complete. Only two buildings remain on the eastern side of what was the Town and Country shopping area.
