Diversity group
welcomes
all residents
Thank you for the article on the Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee. We are truly excited to serve Sunnyvale. However, we were a little surprised by both the negative tone of the article and by the headline itself.
This committee is comprised of a dozen very positive-thinking people who come from a variety of backgrounds--Lebanese, Indian, Pakistani, Taiwanese, Japanese, African-American, European-American, Iranian and Israeli. We all interviewed for this committee because we value the sense of community that symbolizes the best of Sunnyvale and its diverse population. We certainly would have welcomed Guadalupe Tovar if she had applied, but we do have the excellent addition of Susana Rincon to represent the Hispanic voice.
The CDAC welcomes all residents of Sunnyvale to become more active in the city and to participate fully as members on its many different boards and commissions. We also encourage all residents of Sunnyvale to attend our event, Global Sunnyvale: Celebration of Cultures on June 21 at Plaza del Sol. With all that Sunnyvale has to offer, it is the people who make the difference--just like the people on the CDAC.
