Town Center Update

The Sun periodically provides updates on the $400 million Town Center redevelopment project headed by Sand Hill Property Co.

*Construction of parking garages in the two westerly blocks of the development continues on the fourth level of each garage. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are being installed on the interior of both garages.

* The street-level slab of the two office buildings on the west side of the project (adjacent to Mathilda Avenue) is being constructed. Above the street level, these buildings will be constructed with a steel frame. Erection of the steel could start as early as June.

* Nighttime utilities work on Washington and Mathilda avenues has been completed.

* Widening of the south side of Washington Avenue east of Mathilda Avenue began last week. This work involves closure of one eastbound lane of Washington Avenue and one of the two southbound Mathilda Avenue left-turn lanes onto Washington.
