WG wrestling team earns perfect record

    Celebrity Waiter Luncheon on tap


    A cast of celebrities will top the field of servers when the annual Celebrity Waiter Luncheon returns to the San Jose Arena on March 8 as a benefit for the sports programs in the San Jose Unified School District.

    Ronnie Lott, the former All-Pro for the San Francisco 49ers, is the celebrity chairman of the event, along with former 49ers coach and current general manager Bill Walsh.

    Olympic gold medalists Peggy Fleming and Pablo Morales will be joined by Mike Ricci of the San Jose Sharks, current 49ers coach Steve Maruicci, John Doyle of the San Jose Clash, San Jose Sabercats head coach Darren Arbet and many others as lunch servers at the event.

    The cost is $150 per ticket, or $1,500 for a table of 10, and proceeds raised benefit the sports programs in the school district. For more information, call 535-6119.

    Coaches needed

    The Central Valley Youth Soccer League is looking for coaches in the Class 1 (select) and Class 3 (comp) divisions for boys and girls teams in the under-9 through under-17 age divisions for the 1999 season. Call league coaching director Greg Pinelli at 266-5899 or 267-0740.

    All-Comers Meets

    Los Gatos will host a series of all-comers track and field meets on Saturdays, 12:30 p.m., through Feb. 27. Athletes will compete in open, masters men, women, boys and girls divisions. The cost is $3 for athletes and $2 for spectators. Proceeds go toward track resurfacing. Call Willie Harmatz at 354-7365.

    Adult Sports

    Signups for teams and individuals interested in playing in the San Jose adult volleyball and basketball leagues are now being accepted.

    Registration begins Feb. 15 for the basketball season. The cost is $340 per team for the six-game season.

    Volleyball league play begins Feb. 22 in the gym at the Camden Lifetime Activities Center. The cost is $235 per team and the registration deadline is Feb. 19.

    Track Clinic

    A track and field rules and officials clinic will be held Feb. 27, 9 a.m., at Los Gatos High School. The cost is $25 ($20 before Feb. 19). For more information, call Rick Milam at 241-6578.
