Youth sports grants
The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) is accepting grant applications from youth organizations and schools interested in purchasing new sports equipment.
The BASHOF Youth Fund has provided nearly $2 million to more than 350 sports organizations in the 11 counties of the Bay Area since its inception in 1981.

Golf tournament
The Bronco Baseball Golf Tournament, a fundraising event for the Santa Clara University baseball team, will be held Nov. 1 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose.
The best ball scramble tournament will begin with an11:30 a.m. shotgun start, following a 9 a.m. registration. The $230 entry fee includes green fees, cart, range balls, tee prizes, lunch, dinner and a foursome photo. The cost is $60 for dinner only.

Volleyball tryouts
The Point Break Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for the 2003 season in November at Saratoga High School.
The club, under the direction of Westmont girls coach Peter Kim, will hold tryouts on Nov. 16, 79 p.m., for girls in the 12-and-under, 13-and-under and 14-and-under divisions, and on Nov. 17, 79 p.m., for girls in the 15-and-under, 16-and-under and 18-and-under divisions.
There is a onetime tryout fee of $25, but players can try out for multiple teams. Players must arrive an hour before tryouts with insurance, medical and Social Security information, and there will be a short parents meeting before each tryout.
