Willow Glen residents will soon enjoy a new Stuft Pizza restaurant in west Willow Glen at the intersection of Hamilton and Meridian avenues.

John Smith, owner of the new location, is excited about the new direction Stuft Pizza will take when it opens in late November.

"Most of our locations have been the typical 'pizza place,' " says Smith. "When we decided to move our Campbell restaurant to its new location in Willow Glen, I wanted to take it a couple of steps forward."

Smith is planning to launch a "full-service" restaurant. Not only will there be the pizza that has made Stuft Pizza so popular, but Smith also intends to offer a full bar and a new menu with many more items than were available previously.

"We're going all-out on this one, from the granite countertops to the seating, where you can actually watch the chefs make your meal," says Smith.

Instead of the usual pizza place, where you walk in, order your food and sit at a table, there will be a host or hostess as well as waiters and waitresses ready to serve the customers' needs and wants.

"We want a customer to come here and leave more than satisfied, if that's possible. We want to offer things to them that they may not have even thought of," says Smith.

There will be at least three televisions located at the bar, which will show most any sporting event.

To add to the family-friendly atmosphere, Smith will be adding a video game arcade at the back of the restaurant.

"We will be handing out crayons to the kids, but we thought that if we put in a few games in the back, it would give parents a chance to visit during dinner," Smith says.

While the new location is still under construction, future customers can take a peek inside to get a sense of what it will look like when it is finished, which will hopefully be around Thanksgiving of this year, Smith says.

"We're taking our time so that it's perfect," says Smith. "We've selected the fabrics and everything else we need for the meeting/banquet room. The table settings have been selected, and we're talking to some of the local businesses to bring in some of their items to offer to our customers."

Among those items will be desserts from Dick's Bakery—its famous burnt-almond cakes and perhaps some of their other pastry items.

Another item Smith will proudly be serving is a signature ravioli made especially for Stuft Pizza by the chef at La Villa Deli.

New to the menu are daily specials and a large salad selection.

The restaurant will also be serving more pasta dishes than ever before.

"Our chefs have come up with some really good pasta dishes that I think the customers will love," says Smith.

Hot sandwiches and calzone—an Italian turnover stuffed with cheese, meats and vegetables and baked in an oven—will be added to the menu, along with a new selection of the individual pizzas already served at other Stuft Pizza restaurants.

Stuft Pizza restaurant, 1560 Hamilton Ave., opens in late November. For a preview, Smith invites the public to stop by for a peek inside and to fill out a request card to be notified about the grand opening party, or call 408.723.7883 and leave contact information.
