The encyclopedia, as well as other links to reference documents, can be accessed 24 hours a day from the eBranch website using a San Jose Public Library card ID number, which can be acquired from any of the 18 library locations, plus the Bookmobile.

The online World Book Encyclopedia offers all the articles from the 22-volume hard copy version, plus 3,700 more; 15,000 links to websites and links to 30,000 articles in 107 periodicals.

The encyclopedia also offers thousands of maps and pictures and hundreds of videos, animations and sound clips.
