Moryt Milo has been named editor of The Willow Glen Resident, according to Dale Bryant, executive editor of Silicon Valley Community Newspapers (SVCN), which publishes the paper.
Milo, who for the past year has worked as a reporter at The Campbell Reporter, also published by SVCN, spent three months covering Willow Glen a year ago when editor Sheila Sanchez took a maternity leave. Milo now replaces Sanchez, who has decided to spend more time at home with her family.
The former owner of a business that provided pension and retirement planning services for small businesses and professionals, Milo retired to stay home and raise her family. Seven years ago, she began writing op-ed pieces for publication. When the brand-new Campbell Reporter arrived on her doorstep in the spring of 1999, Milo responded to a request for a columnist and soon began a regular column for the paper. That relationship led to her writing freelance articles, which, in turn, led to her joining the SVCN staff.
"My goal as the editor of The Willow Glen Resident," Milo says, "is to ensure that the paper continues its role as the voice of the community. I want the paper to be part of what makes the Willow Glen neighborhood whole." She says she is looking forward to doing more editorial and op-ed writing in her new role.
Milo is married to Ray Budriunas. They have two children, ages 11 and 14.
