The Santa Clara University men's soccer program will be host its second annual golf tournament on May 16 at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose.
The tourney will include a longest drive competition, closest to the pin competition and a putting contest. Golfers can choose whether they play in a scramble format or an individual ball tournament.

Following the tournament, there will be a live auction, a silent auction and a raffle with all proceeds benefiting Santa Clara men's soccer.

Hershey meet

Young athletes, ages 9-14, will converge on the track at Evergreen Valley High School for the annual Northern California Hershey State Track and Field Qualifier on May 22, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Track events include runs 50, 100, 200, 400 and 1,600 meters and the 4x100-meter relay. Field events include the standing long jump and softball throw.

The San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services and the San Jose Police Amateur Athletic Association are co-sponsoring the free event. Top placers qualify for the NorCal Hershey State meet on June 18 at San José City College, with top finishers there moving on to the nationals in Hershey, Pa.

For more information, call the San Jose Citywide Sports Office at 408.369.3900. Registration will also be accepted on the day of the event between 8 and 9:30 a.m. at Evergreen Valley, 3300 Quimby Road.

 

Disability meet

Athletes with disabilities will compete in a multi-sport event on May 19­21 when San Jose hosts the Far West Games at San José City College and the Camden Community Center.

Events will include boccia, track and field, aquatics and 3-on-3 basketball, and there will be divisions for youth and adults. Athletes will earn points for U.S. National competitions.

The multi-disability meet is co-sponsored by the San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services and Far West Wheelchair Sports. Competitors pay $60 to compete but the event is free for spectators.

Events will include: May 19 at San José City College--4 p.m. boccia clinic, 6 p.m. boccia and pentathlon, 6:30 p.m. 5,000 meters; May 20 at San José City College--9 a.m. field events, 2 p.m. track events; and May 21 at the Camden Community Center--10 a.m. 3-on-3 basketball, 2 p.m. swimming.
