Soccer sign-ups

The Central Santa Clara Valley Youth Soccer League will hold registration for the upcoming season on May 14 and 21, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. each day, and May 18, 6:30-9 p.m., in the multipurpose room at Bagby Elementary School, located at the corner of Leigh and Curtner avenues in San Jose.

The league will field teams in the under 6 through under 16 age groups, and age is verified by a passport or birth certificate. The cost is $100 ($90 for players 5 years old).

Hershey Meet

Young athletes, ages 9-14, will converge on the track at Evergreen Valley High School for the annual Northern California Hershey State Track and Field Qualifier on May 22, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Track events include runs 50, 100, 200, 400 and 1,600 meters and the 4x100-meter relay. Field events include the standing long jump and softball throw.

The San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services and the San Jose Police Amateur Athletic Association are co-sponsoring the free event. Top placers qualify for the NorCal Hershey State meet on June 18 at San José City College, with top finishers there moving on to the nationals in Hershey, Pa.
