Youth volleyball
Registration for boys and girls ages 8-14 interested in playing the fall season in the United States Youth Volleyball League are under way. Players will be grouped in three age divisions and matches are played Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 10-11 a.m., at Kirk Park on Foxworthy Avenue in San Jose.

Kids Triathlon
Top young athletes took part in the sixth annual Silicon Valley Kids Triathlon last month at De Anza College in Cupertino, competing in an event that included a pool swim, a closed-road bike race and an on-track run.
Harrison Holmes raced to a second in the boys 13-14 age group with Sean Gray of San Jose third and Scott Knirck of Sunnyvale fourth, and Amanda Speedy of Saratoga was fourth in the girls 13-14 class.
Claire Karlsson of San Jose won the girls 11-12 division and Angelo Longoni of San Jose was fourth in the boys 11-12 event. Sunnyvale's Michael Amick was third in the boys 9-10 class.
Benjamin Hughes of San Jose was the age group winner in the 7-8 boys division with Justin Read of Sunnyvale fourth, and E. Aquino-Gonzales of Sunnyvale was second with Janaye Sakkas of Cupertino third and Alyssa Amick of Sunnyvale fifth in the girls 7-8 age division.
Joel Ryken of San Jose was second in the boys 6 and under division, and Bella Martinez of Willow Glen placed third in the girls 6 and under class.
Rams need coaches

All-star football
The 31st annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game will be held July 20, 7:30 p.m., at San José City College. The game, also called the Silicon Valley Youth Classic, is presented each summer by the Almaden Valley Rotary Club and features outstanding graduating seniors from Santa Clara Valley high schools.
Mark Krail of Pioneer will coach the South team in this summer's classic with Tony Santos of Westmont leading the North squad.
