Spirit of the Flame The fifth annual Spirit of the Flame Challenge returns on Feb. 29-March 2 when the West Valley Gymnastics Club hosts 600 of the nation's top female gymnasts in a three-day event at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Gymnasts from the Level 9 to Elite divisions will compete in what West Valley Gymnastics calls "Northern California's premier gymnastics event" on Feb. 29 (4:30 p.m.), March 1 (8 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m.) and March 2 (8 a.m., noon). Tickets range from $5-$30.

The Los Gatos High School baseball staff will host a pair of youth baseball clinics on March 9 and 16, 12:30-3:30 p.m., for players ages 5-12 on the high school field. The cost is $100 per player with checks to be made out to the Los Gatos Athletic Association. Cats on road

The Los Gatos baseball team, a winner over both Archbishop Mitty and Bellarmine last week, was to challenge Serra on Monday and will visit St. Francis in Mountain View on Feb. 26, 6 p.m. It marks the fourth clash for the Wildcats against the West Catholic Athletic League this season.

Vintage Base Ball

Bay Area Vintage Base Ball is looking for players ages 18-50 to play in a unique men's hardball league. Playing by the rules of 1886, there are five Bay Area teams in need of players.
